Back in the mid seventies I was lucky enough to be hired by Bob as his stock boy at Edward’s Men’s Shop in Bay City. Bob taught me so much. How to treat customers, how to make them feel important and how real service matters. Later, he taught me the nuances of being a good sales person, and upon graduation one Friday night, we were closing the store, locking up and Bob said, “guys, (Kevin LeRoux and me) come back into the store… go pick out any suit in the back… we want you to look your best at graduation and prom. This is totally free and our way to say congratulations!” Now, I don’t know if Bob paid for those suits or Edward’s did but either way, he was such a class act! I could never forget his words of wisdom, his humor and his kindness. From a teenager’s perspective, he was a cool dude!

I met Bob at Edward’s Men’s Shops in Bay City as he was the store manager there. I was a college age cashier. Bob was fair, and fun - emphasis on fun! While work needed to be done and he inspired professionalism, when there were no customers in the store and during slow times, he was all about the fun. He inspired camaraderie and his coworkers were team players and we were all friends. I often say that my experiences at Edward’s were life lessons that have shaped my life that I will never forget.

Dear Jan and Family,
Sue and I were sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a very dear friend back in our early years after high school and before leaving Saginaw for college and work life out of state. Bob and I shared some beers the night before I was drafted in January 1966, and I will always remember and appreciate him joining me for that last night in town. But, that was Bob, a good friend.

Bob will be so very missed on this earth. But I seek to find joy in the knowledge that Bob is surrounded by beauty indescribable, peace unimaginable, and love beyond human comprehension.
