Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, caregiver and dear friend passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 5, 2025. He was 98 years old. Roy Arthur Hills was born on July 22, 1926 in Wheeler, Michigan to Arthur Everton and Bertha May (Bradford) Hills. Following high school Roy proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Central Michigan University. He then married Margaret Elizabeth Rachner on December 29, 1948, and moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended Kansas City University of Medicine, graduating in 1952. Dr. Hills served his internship in Detroit until 1953 and then moved to the Saginaw area in November of 1953. He proudly served the Saginaw Community, specializing in General Medicine until his retirement on December 31, 2000. Dr. Hills was a faithful member of St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church.

Dr. Hills is survived by his sons: Dr. Gary (Gina) Hills and Dr. Robert (Jodie) Hills; his companion, Margaret “Peggy” Schambach; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Hailie) Hills, Evi (Brady) Vontran, Justin Hills, Dylan (Gabby) Hills, Julian (Makayla) Hills, David (Jeanine) Hills and Marisa (Florian); five great grandchildren: Ezra and Arie Vontran, John Lalli Hills, Sadie Hills, and Grayson Ratz; niece, Kay (William) Pierce; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Ann Shaler and Gerald Collins.

Dr. Hills was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. Hills; grandson, Daniel Hills; sisters: Rena (Henry) Snell, Beulah (Cameron) Anderson, Betty (John) High; nephews: Dale Snell and Arthur Snell; niece, Linda Nichols.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603 on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Hills will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

SERVICE: A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow the funeral liturgy at St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Navy and American Legion Post #439.
