Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Rose G. Castillo, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on the evening of Friday, April 25, 2025, at her residence. She was 98 years old.

Rose Grace Unzueta was born on August 30, 1926, in Saginaw, Michigan to Ralph and Ascencion (Falcon) Unzueta. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1944. On December 1, 1944, she married the love of her life, Encarnacion “John” R. Castillo, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw. Together, they built a loving home and a life centered around family.

Rose worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Davis Drugs, where she dedicated 25 years before retiring. She was known for her delicious homemade pies, and her love of cooking and baking. She also enjoyed shopping, but her greatest joy came from being at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Rose is survived by her children, Theresa (Bob) Guzman and Michael Castillo; grandchildren, Robert Guzman, John Guzman, Sarah (Louis) Petrillo, Steven (Trina) Castanon, and Matthew (Tammie) Castanon; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jean Unzueta and Eva Barajas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Encarnacion “John” R. Castillo; her children, John Castillo (killed in Vietnam in 1967), Margaret (Joe) Castanon, and Richard Castillo; her grandson, Eric Castanon; and her siblings, Rollie Unzueta and Happy Barajas.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Deacon Librado Gayton will officiate. Committal service to follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Saginaw.
