BURT, Mildred Barbara (List)

Saginaw, Michigan

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend, was called to her eternal home on Thursday, April 3, 2025. She peacefully left this earth from Suncoast Hospice Center in Palm Harbor, Florida and was greeted by her heavenly Father and her husband, John. She was 101 years old. Mildred Barbara List was born on December 16, 1923 in Frankenmuth, Michigan to Ernst and Clara (Loesel) List. She married the love of her life, John R. Burt on November 12, 1942 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, Michigan. They celebrated over 61 years of making wonderful memories with their family and friends until his passing on April 11, 2003.

Mildred worked in the Physical Therapy Department at St. Luke’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI for 18 years to help support her family while John started his business ventures. Eventually (with Mildred’s support) John reached a level of success with Duro-Last and Mildred was able to retire and assume her role as “The First Lady of Duro-Last” where she enjoyed getting to know hundreds of employees, sales representatives, customers and their families. Every year she looked forward to attending the company’s annual summer steak fry, Christmas party and the Duro-Last National Sales Seminar so that she could see her “Duro-Last Family.”

Mildred was a woman of great faith. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw. She enjoyed Bible study and making braille Bibles for the blind. One of her favorite Bible verses was Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Together John and Mildred raised five children: Carol Stuhr, Sharon Sny, Connie (Bob) Moeller, Kathy (Pat) Allen and Jack (Sally) Burt. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Vicki (Troy) Knight, David (Nichole) Sny, Shawn (Kerri) Sny, Ryan (Michelle) Moeller, Matthew (Heidi) Moeller, Justin (Christy) Moeller, Paul (Danielle) Jankens, Jason (Pamela) Tunney, Jeremy Tunney, Kevin Allen, Stephanie (Andrew) Cross and Katie (Brian) Mills; granddaughters-in-law: Heather Stuhr and Jill Sny; forty-two great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren and Mildred and John’s longtime friends, Tom and Rayleen Lawler and their children and grandchildren.

Mildred is now reunited with her husband, John; sisters: Anita Dewey and Helene List; her brother, Ted List; grandsons: Christopher Stuhr and Benjamin Scott Sny; sons-in-law, Neil Stuhr and Benjamin Sny.
