Jim was my classmate and close friend at St. Mary's Cathedral H.S. I lived down the street from his family and car pooled with him and his sister, Eileen to school most days. Jim and I played football and basketball together where he was the starting fullback and I tried to block for him. Jim played for the MSU freshman team in 1966 as a walk-on. That was the year that the varsity went undefeated. The last time I saw him was at an all year St. Mary's reunion where he was surrounded by many of the students that he used to teach. I had always hoped to see him again before we aged out but now it will have to be in the after life. I look forward to it. From: Dave Zimmerman, Cincinnati, OH

Jim was truly a cornerstone of the Bailie family—strong, steady, and always there with a kind heart and a warm presence. I will always remember Christmases with him, handing out gifts with that signature twinkle in his eye, making sure everyone felt loved and included. It’s surreal to think he has passed, but I find comfort in knowing he lived a full, meaningful life, touching so many along the way. His dedication to family, friends, and the students and athletes he mentored is an amazing legacy.
Praying and thinking of all of you.
With love, Paul, Dani & JD Desousa

Dear Sandi and Bailie siblings I am so sorry to hear about Jim. At my Mom's funeral I hadn't seen him but he made sure to talk with me. I was touched. The Bailie family have special ties to our family. Many great memories . I was lucky to know "coach" as a teacher and football coach. What a man. God bless

He was one of the greatest teachers I ever had. He taught us about more than just history and social studies. He taught us about life, and how to grow and encouraged us to make good decisions.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Jim was a great friend and mentor during his years at Pinconning Area Schools. During his time there we coached football, track and golf together.
I have always considered him my mentor when it came to golf. When I'm on the course I offten think of the different bits of advice he passed on to me.
He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew them and our prayers go out to the family.
