Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, February 22, 2025 at New Hope Assisted Living in White Lake. She was 85 years old. Susan Elizabeth Paine was born on January 8, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan to George and Margaret (Baldwin) Paine. She married the love of her life, Thomas “T.J.” Wagner on April 4, 1964 in Saginaw. Together, they celebrated 48 wonderful years together before T.J.’s death on June 15, 2012. Susan was employed by Saginaw General Hospital as a Registered Nurse, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church in Saginaw and Breckenridge United Methodist Church for many years.
She will be remembered for her loving spirit and her positive view on life. Susan loved her cats and enjoyed boating and singing in the church choir. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are one son, Thomas J. (Pamela) Wagner, one daughter, Karen Wagner; grandchildren: Allyson (Nick), Michael (Taylor), Evan, Rob (Bridgette), and Amanda (Ben); great grandchildren: Kaden, Lucas, Andon, Abbigail, Harlow, and Edith; siblings, Georgeann (Rod) Haught, Barb (Jerry) Fribley; brother in-law, Don Ashmall and many extended nieces, nephews, and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret Paine; one sister, Peggy Ashmall.
FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State), with entombment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie will officiate. A tribute will be led by the Michigan Tri-City Nurse Honor Guard.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
