Obituary of Richard J. Simon
Simon, Richard J. “Dick”
Saginaw, Michigan
Our loving dad, papa, brother, uncle and dear friend received his angel wings and was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, February 6, 2025. He was 75 years old. Richard John Simon was born on March 16, 1949 in Highland Park, Michigan. Dick graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1969. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy. Dick was an Orderly in the Emergency Room Department of St Mary's Hospital for a couple of years. Dick then worked for Saginaw Steering Gear, Delphi and Nexteer, in Plant 3, Department 47 as a Department Coordinator for over 37 1/2 years, retiring in August of 2009. He also was part of Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. Dick also took pride in volunteering at his grandchildren's school whenever the opportunity arose, he was known as Weiss Elementary's very own Papa.
Dick served his community as the Captain of the Buena Vista Fire Department for 30 years. He loved being a Trainer for the Saginaw Junior Gears at Saginaw Bay Ice Arena for many years, and he truly Loved “his boys”. Dick loved spending his summer time on his boat at Bay Harbor Marina. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, he was a HUGE Hockey fan of the Detroit Red Wings of course and following The Detroit Tigers. He absolutely Loved his Wind Chimes, he would sit for hours on the front porch and listen to them. More than anything he treasured his time spent with his daughter and grandchildren, Jaxson and Peyton.
