Obituary of Dean Campbell
Our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend Dean C. Campbell passed Thursday January 23, 2025. Dean was born to Donald and Claire Campbell on May 18, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan. Dean graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1968 and attended some classes at Delta College before completing a course in criminal justice. He met his soulmate, Ruth M. Richter, and they were married in 1986. Dean was a special kind of man, with one child of his own at the time, and taking on two bonus children from the love of his life. Together, they welcomed two more children, completing their family of seven.
Those who knew Dean, knew him to be a boisterous and comedic man. In high school, he played football, basketball and tennis and loved sharing stories about those times. In his wild years, he loved traveling, especially to the Florida Keys and Jamaica. He loved anything outdoors, golfing, all types of fishing, snorkeling, and so much more. As a father, he dedicated much of his time volunteering to coach his children’s sports teams. After quitting the police force, he became the family handy man and continued to be a residential contractor for many years after. He spent much of his time in retirement watching Mecum Auctions and documentaries. Everyone knew when they became a part of the family when Dean would show you his collection of conch shells. Regardless of what path you decided to take in life, he would always be there to support you. His world revolved around his family. The memories of Dean dancing in the living room and blasting music as loud as he could, will forever be cherished.
Surviving Dean along with his wife, Ruth, are his children: Curtis Campbell, Jim (Amy) Ney, Jamie (Eric) Wojahn, Sam (Brittany Miles) Campbell, and Drew Campbell; Brother Keith (Corinna) Campbell; Sister Robin Almy; his granddaughters Quinn and Charlotte Wojahn; his best buddies Boomer and Budda; along with many extended family members. Preceding him in death are his parents, Brother Cary Campbell, Beloved Brother-in-law Jack Almy, a very special uncle Bob Berg, a partner-in-crime, Ron Wildfong; and “The dogs,” Rocky and Buster.
