MAYER, Charles John Jr. ("Chop") passed away on August 19, 2011 at Meadow View Manor, Saginaw, MI. He was 88 years old. Charles J. Mayer Jr. was born May 29, 1923 in Hillsboro, IL to the late Charles John and Sadie Lauer (Walter) Mayer. He married Floy Marie Strange on February 21, 1943. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2007. Chop proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Chief Yeoman. He and his wife Floy owned and operated Mayer Plumbing, Heating and Electrical in Plymouth, IN for a number of years. Chop is survived by his daughter, Barbara Way of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Amanda and Jason Way, and his sister-in-law, Jeri Landholt of Plymouth, IN. He was preceded in death by his son John, his son-in-law John Way and his brother-in-law Byron Landholt. According to Chop's wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery, Saginaw, MI. A family memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, Saginaw, MI. Barb and Mandy will be walking in Detroit in memory of Chop on August 27th.
